Grassroots
“Coach Juan” has been coaching soccer for 10 years and is starting his 2nd season with PFC! He brings years of experienceworking with players across multiple levels and age groups. He has previously coached with Brownsville United and Club Águilas, where he led team training, developed specialized goalkeeper programs, and guided athletes through college recruitment pathways. He’s also held other leadership roles off the field, including serving on a club board, and helping establish development programs that support long-term athlete growth. His coaching philosophy focuses on player development, mentorship, and building strong team dynamics. His favorite part of coaching is educating the next generation and helping them grow, not just as players, but as well-rounded individuals. He’s passionate about developing their skills on the field while also teaching discipline, teamwork, and confidence that they can carry with them throughout life.
He began playing soccer when he was 4 years old, starting with local low-level teams and working my way up to competing for state titles. He was a Center Back and Goalkeeper. During his time in the Army, he had the unique opportunity to represent his unit for 5 years in International tournaments while deployed. Those experiences deepened his love for the game and taught him the power soccer has to connect people across cultures and backgrounds.
Coach Juan is a proud Army veteran with 6 years of service. He is embracing an exciting new chapter with his amazing wife and newborn. They love spending time outdoors hiking, camping, or just enjoying nature. They’re both big fans of staying active and catching live sporting events whenever they can. Life at home is full of love and energy thanks to their 2 beautiful dogs, who keep them on their toes. Family, adventure, and making the most of every moment together is what it’s all about for them!
