PAYSL is hiring field referees for the fall season! If you’re someone who loves the game of soccer, enjoys being outdoors, and is looking for something exciting yet challenging, then this job is for YOU!
Pay starts at $18/game for the 7U/8U level. Games will be held Thursdays - Sundays at the Wells Point Park fields. Refs must be at least 13 years old.
There are two parts to the training for becoming a referee: the online training and the virtual training. The virtual training will be held on August 16th at 6:30 pm. More information on this session can be found here. The cost for the training is $80. PAYSL will reimburse you $30 once you have completed two weeks of refereeing for the club.
To start the process, click here. You will need to register for the site by clicking on the sign-up icon in the top right corner of the screen. Once registered, you should be able to select “Grassroots - First time referees.” Click on the red “Go to course list” and from there select “Grassroots (first time referees).”
Once certified, you will need to get a ref uniform. The link for that can be found here. Starting with the yellow shirt should be enough, unless you are an older referee and in that case you may want to get a black one as well. Starter kits start out at $37.55 and any of the three will work.
Once you have completed the class and received the certificate, send an email to Floyd Melton (found below) so that we can get your referee account set up in GotSoccer and paperwork submitted to our accountant.refs@paysl.org
*An additional note - for the 2021 grassroots first time referee licensing course, if you are 18 or older, while the background check is required, you do not have to wait for approval to register for the course as it is now a part of the registration process and you can perform coursework while awaiting results.
*Also, new this year: The referee candidate MUST complete the lesson before attending the Zoom call or they will be bumped to a future class to participate. The course will be closed down 72 hours prior to the call with no exceptions.
If you know anyone who is interested in becoming a referee or if you have any questions regarding the information above, please contact Floyd Melton at refs@paysl.org.
