Spring season canceled - COVID-19 response

PAYSL and Pflugerville FC Families, Players and Parents,

With the recent escalation in COVID-19 cases in the country and around us, our governing body Capital Area Youth Soccer Association (CAYSA) has decided to cancel all soccer related activities. To adhere with CAYSA’s guidelines and decision, we at PAYSL and PFC will be cancelling the rest of the spring season.

We would like to thank you all for helping get the Spring 2020 season started and being patient as we navigated the wave of changes that came with the COVID-19 pandemic. The bad news is that the remainder of the Spring season has been canceled, but we do have some good news: We are issuing partial credits that can apply towards your player’s Fall registration. Please see your email for directions on applying for your credit by May 31, 2020. We hope this will help you return to play soccer with us this Fall.

Additionally, in the meantime we are excited to offer free digital training through a summer partnership with TopTekkers. With the app, players ages 5–14 can continue to practice right at home with age-appropriate drills and challenges, track their score, and earn badges for completion. In the next few days, all parents with players in these age groups will receive an email from TopTekkers inviting them to download the app and get started.

This was a hard decision to make and a lot of factors have been considered. We are a non-profit with some fixed costs, including jerseys, field maintenance, and overhead that were incurred to get the season started and will continue with no additional revenue being generated. But, we are glad to be able to extend this Fall offer to PAYSL families, including the digital training for this Spring and Summer.

Stay safe and keep practicing social distancing in the hope of battling these unfortunate circumstances. We hope to see everyone back on the pitch in the fall, where we can play the game that we all love and enjoy.

One Team. One Goal.

COVID-19 Update: Games Suspended until April 12th

Based on their recommendation, all games and practices at PAYSL/PFC will continue to be suspended until April 12th. At that time the situation will be assessed again and a determination will be made about the season.

Update 3/13: Based on STYSA & CAYSA recent press releases and to adhere to their recommendations, all games and practices at PAYSL/PFC will be suspended to April 5. At that time the situation will be assessed again and a determination will be made about the season. Stay safe.

STYSA 3/13 update: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Advisory Update to Membership

CAYSA 3/13 update: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Posted on 3/12:

We are aware of everybody’s concern about the outbreak of the Coronavirus that is going on.  We at Pflugerville Area Youth Soccer league (PAYSL) are aware and concerned about the health of all the players and their families.

The league will be adhering to Capital Area Youth Soccer Association (CAYSA), South Texas Youth Soccer association (STYSA), and US Soccer policies regarding cancellation of games and events moving forward.  Local health offices and the CDC guidelines will be followed as well.

We are asking all parents and players to stay home if they are feeling sick. Communicate with your coach of any issues or symptoms. If you are a volunteer coach and feel sick we ask you to contact your age group VP and to avoid practices and games. The signs of COVID-19 are fever, cough and shortness of breath. Seek medical advice if you develop symptoms. The CDC recommends that people stay home for at least 24 hours after being fever free, regardless of the illness. Keep in mind that if you are taking any ibuprofen or aspirin, it can repress a fever. The 24 hours would start six hours after taking any fever reducing medication. If someone shows up to a game or practice showing symptoms of illness, they will be asked to go home.

We also ask that in the meantime coaches, players, parents and referees refrain from shaking hands, high-fiving, etc. to minimize the potential transfer of germs. Also, at the end of games, please skip lining up for high-fives and handshakes with the opposing team and forming a parent “tunnel” where kids run through and high-five everyone.

We are asking all parents and players—while at work, at home, at school or at the games—to please maintain a clean environment and practice good hygiene etiquette. Use hand sanitizer and/or wash hands with soap for at least 20 seconds. Cover all coughs and sneezes with a tissue and then throw all tissues away in the trash. Avoid touching eyes, mouth and nose with unwashed hands. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces in your area.

If you have any upcoming travel plans local or abroad, we highly suggest and recommend evaluating the areas that you will be travelling to and alter the plans if possible. Some states and countries have been identified by the CDC as having a large number of diagnosed cases and travel to those areas is not recommended and in some instances are prohibited.

The league will provide hand soap at the facilities’ restrooms during the games and practices and promote a healthy environment.

We understand that all of us continue to have jobs to do and we want you to be able to carry those jobs out in the safest manner for our communities. Please use your best judgement. If you think it’s best to avoid games or practices, please inform your child’s coach. We ask for your help in promoting healthy habits and clean environments as we try to do our due diligence.

Safety is everyone's job

With the start of the new season, we want to stress to you that safety is always our number one priority. We want to remind all our families to please BE SAFE when driving in our parking lots at both Wells Point Park and 1849. Parents, please assist your children as they walk across the parking lot and along the sidewalk. If you are late to practice, we ask that you not speed up just to make it to practice on time. Accidents can occur very quickly, and the parking lots can be very dark at nights with parents and players going to and from practices. In order to keep our families out of danger, we ask that you drive slowly, be patient, and stay off your cell phones as you drop off your player, look for parking, and as you are leaving the park. Remember: SAFETY IS EVERYONE’S JOB!

PFC's First Annual Holiday Gala

Pflugerville FC had its first annual holiday gala on December 13th at Pfluger Hall. Families of PFC players and others around the community attended and enjoyed a night of great food and dancing. PAYSL’s first ever golf tournament fundraiser was held on August 17th. We had quite a turnout! The golfers and volunteers enjoyed a nice day having lunch and dinner, winning contests and silent auctions, and best of all - playing golf! It was a fun and successful event, and we hope more of you can join us next year.

Thanks to everyone for supporting PAYSL and Pflugerville FC! Enjoy the rest of the season. As always, we look forward to seeing you at the PITCH!!
